Greg Leyendecker

Senior Vice President & Regional Manager – South Texas and Gulf Coast

Greg Leyendecker is the senior vice president and regional manager for SM Energy Company’s South Texas and Gulf Coast region in Houston. Mr. Leyendecker joined SM Energy in 2006 as operations manager and was responsible for the integration of several Permian Basin and South Texas acquisitions that closed in 2006 and 2007. From 2007 to 2010, when he was promoted to senior vice president, Mr. Leyendecker served as vice president.

Mr. Leyendecker is a 1980 graduate of Texas A&I University in Kingsville where he earned a bachelor of science degree in natural gas engineering. He joined Unocal after graduation where he worked as a drilling foreman and field engineer in California and Alaska before moving to Midland, Texas, in 1989 and on to Lafayette, Louisiana, in 1998. His assignments have included various technical and supervisory positions, both domestically and internationally. In 2000, he was appointed drilling manager for Unocal’s Gulf Coast region, which included onshore and offshore activities. In 2001, Mr. Leyendecker moved to Houston, and in 2002 he became the Asset manager for Unocal’s Gulf Coast onshore and inland waters assets where he had P&L responsibility of an area with daily production of more than 25,000 BOEPD.

Following Chevron’s acquisition of Unocal in 2005, Mr. Leyendecker became the Drilling and Workover manager for Chevron’s San Joaquin Valley business unit, which at that time was completing more than 800 wells per year. Immediately prior to joining SM Energy, he served as vice president of Drilling Management Services for Enventure Global Technology, the industry’s leading provider of Solid Expandable Tubular technology.
