Steve Pugh
Senior Vice President & Regional Manager – ArkLaTex
Stephen Pugh joined SM Energy Company as senior vice president, regional manager of the ArkLaTex region in July 2007. Mr. Pugh succeeded David Hart, who retired from the company.Mr. Pugh has more than 27 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He was most recently managing director for Scotia Waterous in the Houston office. Scotia Waterous specializes in upstream M&A advice for energy companies. His responsibilities were for business development, primarily in the United States, but also included some international clients.
Prior to joining Scotia Waterous, Mr. Pugh had more than 17 years of experience in A&D, operations, and engineering with Burlington Resources/ConocoPhillips. His most recent title was general manager, engineering and operations, Gulf Coast. Prior to that, he was vice president of Acquisitions and Divestitures for Burlington Resources, Canada. Mr. Pugh began his career with Superior Oil (subsequently Mobil Oil) in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he worked in production, drilling, and reservoir engineering.
Mr. Pugh holds a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Petroleum Institute.
