The ArkLaTex office manages SM Energy’s operations in eastern Texas and northern Louisiana. Throughout the last several years, our activities have focused on the Cotton Valley and James Lime formations. SM Energy was an early leader in the horizontal drilling and completion of these formations. The emergence of the Haynesville shale in recent years has added a new zone of interest to pursue across our acreage position. The majority of our Haynesville shale acreage is located in San Augustine and Shelby Counties in Texas, with the balance being located in northern Louisiana.
