Patrick A. Lytle

Mr. Lytle was appointed Senior Vice President – Finance in March 2025, having previously served as Vice President – Chief Accounting Officer and Controller since April 2021. Mr. Lytle has served in roles of increasing responsibility including Controller and Principal Accounting Officer, Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, Director of Financial Planning and Financial Reporting, and Assistant Secretary. Mr. Lytle joined SM Energy in 2007 as a Senior Accountant.

Mr. Lytle has more than 20 years of experience in accounting and finance. Prior to joining SM Energy, Mr. Lytle was with Hiratsuka & Schmitt, LLP as an Audit Manager.

Mr. Lytle currently serves as the Chair of the Accounting Advisory Council at the University of Colorado Denver, is on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Society of CPAs, and on the Accounting Accreditation Policy Committee of the AACSB.
